Lamborghini is not the first automaker to partner with a boat builder to offer a car-inspired luxury yacht. Lexus announced a sport yacht back in 2018 and last year, Honda announced a speedboat inspired by the NSX supercar. But as you might expect, Automobili Lamborghini has blown both of those boats away with its all-new motor yacht, the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63.
By partnering with The Italian Sea Group, Lamborghini has built a one-of-a-kind limited edition boat. The Tecnomar is meant to be inspired by the 2020 Lamborghini Sian FKP 37, the company’s first hybrid supercar, and unlike other supposedly car-inspired yachts, this one actually looks a lot like the car it’s based on.
A yacht is obviously a much different looking vehicle than a car but Lamborghini has managed to translate some of the DNA from the Sian. “This yacht represents the significance of creating a valuable partnership, at its best: our co-operation allows the essence of both organizations’ style and expertise to be transferred to different worlds, sharing in their diversity to interpret and add value to the final product in a new environment,” said Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “If I had to imagine a Lamborghini on water, this would be my vision. I’m delighted to celebrate this successful collaboration.”
Like the Sian, the Tecnomar for Lamborghini 63 uses V12 power. Only in this case, there are two of them. Twin MAN V12 engines produce 2,000 horsepower each, combining for an outrageous 4,000 hp. With all the grunt, the top speed is measured at 60 knots, making it the fastest of the Tecnomar fleet. Like a Lamborghini car, the yacht is completely made of carbon fiber. It measures 63 feet long and weighs in at 24 tons, putting it in the ultra-lightweight boat classification.
Lamborghini says the hull and the superstructure were created using a high-performance shell, which was developed by naval engineers specializing in hydrodynamic sciences. The hardtop roof is inspired by Lamborghini roadsters and the bow lights were inspired by the Terzo Millennio and the Sian. Inside, customers can even customize the cabin through Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program. The steering wheel and gauges are even designed to look like the cockpit of a Lamborghini supercar. The starter button is the exact same one used to start every Lamborghini road car.
Only 63 examples of these boats will be built with the first one becoming available at the beginning of 2021. No price tag was given but if you have to ask, you probably can’t afford it.
